The fastest way to lose Prescriptions of the Past is to treat the Departure Building like a normal loot stop. This mission is really a short route test: reach Spaceport, identify the right structure, get upstairs, locate the Medical Exam Room, and search the records before the area turns noisy. I keep the objective in mind before thinking about extra ARC Raiders Items, because every drawer you open adds time in a building where another Raider or an ARC patrol can interrupt the run.
The Mission in One Pass
Lance's quest has three linked objectives: visit the Departure Building in Spaceport, find the Medical Exam Room, and search the medical records. All three need to register during one deployment. There's no separate material list or required enemy encounter attached to the task, so your main resource is time. From what I've seen, players make this harder by clearing rooms that have nothing to do with the objective, then reaching the records with a damaged kit and too much attention on them.
Use the Lobby as Your Anchor
Approach the large Departure Building near the central Launch Towers and pause outside for a quick scan. Check streets, entrances, and obvious patrol routes before committing. Once inside, use the lobby and its large staircase as your reference point. Go up one floor, then turn left at the top. The Medical Exam Room is generally toward the northern or northwestern side of the upper level, with exam-room markings and a medical symbol helping confirm the direction.
Enter with a loadout you can afford to risk.
Mark the staircase mentally before checking side rooms.
Turn left immediately after reaching the upper floor.
Ignore ordinary containers until the records objective is complete.
Keep an exit route in mind before starting the search interaction.
What to Do Inside the Exam Room
Once you find the room, move beyond the doorway and inspect the desks around the examination tables and medical equipment. The correct target is the medical records interaction, not a random container. Activate the prompt and let it finish before moving away. If the first desk has no prompt, check the nearby room in the same exam-room section; references place the records in more than one nearby position. I could be wrong but, in practice, turning back toward the stairwell too soon is a more common mistake than missing a hidden puzzle.
Fast Route or Safer Route?
Your choice of approach should match the rest of your deployment. A direct run limits exposure and works well when the quest is the only goal. A slower sweep gives you more chances at useful containers, but it also creates more sound, more doorways to watch, and more time for another player to arrive. The table below keeps the tradeoff simple.
Approach Best For Main Cost
Direct staircase route Quest progress Less optional loot
Full building sweep Loot-focused runs More exposure
Team split search Fast room checks Separated teammates
Rewards, Progression, and the Exit Call
The current quest record lists one Heavy Shield, one Tactical Mk. 3 (Healing), and three Adrenaline Shots. Older references may show fewer items, so your in-game reward panel should settle any mismatch. The quest leads into Power Out and follows A Warm Place To Rest, giving Lance's chain a useful shift from collection work to interior location reading. Searching the records completes the mission; no special quest item extraction is required, though leaving safely is still the smart play.
My Rule for the Last Thirty Seconds
After the records interaction registers, stop acting like the building owes you a full loot haul. Listen for footsteps, check the route you used, and leave through the safest available exit rather than wandering into offices. The Heavy Shield and healing gear already give the run a solid payoff, while nearby ARC Raiders Materials are only worth grabbing when the building is genuinely quiet. Finish the objective first, then make the risk decision with your rewards secured.
