Cam Burke was the hero as Irish take first game of the weekend in Michigan upper peninsula.Following last week 2-1 victory on opening weekend against the Long Island Sharks, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish took the show on the road and to northern Michigan for a Friday evening matchup with the Michigan Tech Huskies at MacInnes Student Ice Arena.First PeriodDespite committing 3 penalties in the opening frame, Michigan Tech was able to keep Notre Dame off the scoreboard. Goalie Ryan Bischel, making his first start of the season for the Irish, saw only 6 shots in the first 20 minutes, as the Huskies spent most of the period on the penalty kill. The teams headed into the first intermission scoreless.Second PeriodThe second period opened with a broken power-play for the Irish, and once again they were unable get much pressure. However, they finally got on the board when Cam Burke tapped in a rebound for his second of the season, with assists from Ryder Rolston and Grant Silianoff. Not to be outdone by the Tech PK in the first, the Irish killed off three penalties of their own in the middle frame. Tech pulled goalie Blake Pietila for the extra attacker, and tied the contest at 1 with just over 54 seconds left, thanks to a goal from Ryland Mosley.
