Heavy Lumber gives you two very different ways to improve a lineup in MLB The Show 26's October release. If you're weighing where your MLB 26 stubs fit into your roster plans, start with the positions you need. Bryce Eldridge brings a 99 overall option at first base, with 109 contact against righties and 125 against lefties. His power splits reach 108 and 111, respectively, alongside 114 clutch. Honus Wagner offers something else: a 99 overall shortstop with 99 speed and stealing. Power or pressure on the bases That's the choice here.

Autumn Ascensions puts athleticism first

Bobby Witt Jr. makes Autumn Ascensions worth a look if your infield needs more range. The Royals shortstop pairs 94 fielding and 85 arm strength with 99 speed, so there's more to consider than his hitting. His featured offensive ratings include 118 contact and 96 power. Julio Rodriguez joins him as another 99 overall option, this time for the outfield. The fall leaf artwork catches your eye, but roster fit matters more. If your lineup already has enough slow power hitters, these are the kinds of cards worth comparing before making another upgrade.

Black Gold adds another infield option

Kevin McGonigle is the featured 99 overall reward in Black Gold, giving players another middle infield target within the 2026 Topps Update Series release. Don't overlook the packs along the reward path, either. They're part of the return for your time, even if the headline card gets most of the attention. Wagner remains an interesting comparison here. Alongside his speed, he has 88 arm strength, 85 arm accuracy, and ratings of 99 for both drag bunting and sacrifice bunting. Different tools, different lineup decisions.

Chase Burns brings the rotation appeal

The base set's Chase Burns gives Cincinnati fans a 99 overall starter to examine. His pitch speeds stand out immediately: a 94 mph sinker, a 96 mph slider, and a 97 mph four seam fastball. That narrow speed spread makes pitch shape and location worth considering rather than relying on velocity alone. The listed attributes include 107 stuff, 125 pitching clutch, 123 hits per nine against right handed hitters, and 107 strikeouts per nine against lefties. For players whose offense is already settled, Burns may be the more relevant addition.

Choose your next target before you play

Identify your weakest position.
Compare the available rewards.
Check the program objectives.

Conquest, Showdown, and Mini Seasons offer places to work through this release, depending on the objectives involved. Check those requirements before committing an evening. If you plan to buy MLB 26 stubs, decide what your roster needs first rather than chasing every new diamond. A useful upgrade should solve a problem, not just fill another collection slot.
