La description

The first group comprising Bo Knows Legends players arrived in the last week. It included Dan Dierdorff, Iverson Walls, Charle Young, and Bruce Smith. Each player received the Power Up item, 85 OVR, and 94 OVR cards to play. Similar should be the case with other players.

The new Legends items will come out within Ultimate Team on Monday, November 29th as part of the promotion. Other recent promotions set to debut in Madden include a Thanksgiving-themed promotion , which includes Blitz in addition to Team of the Week which will be available weekly.

Using our model and the most up-to-date set of data2 that was published on the Madden website, we have identified several players against whom Madden and a model-based approach seem to be at odds which is interesting.

Injecting human judgement into a grading system can be a good thing. Daniel Sorensen is a good example. The player is having a difficult year with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the reason is their defense's loss of 69.5 points more than they expected this season, which ranks 31st in the league. Sorensen's performances have earned him a coverage grade at 42.2 from 100 by Pro Football Focus and an overall grade of 35.5. In spite of his struggles, He's still speedy! Based upon his on-field speed according to player tracking data, we'd expect an essentially model-based speed score for Sorensen of 89 or so, nearly 7 points more than Madden's grade for Week 9 of 82. Perhaps the folks at EA would rather not reward a player who is performing as poorly as Sorensen with a high mark in a crucial area like speed ratings, given that it's a massive effect on the gameplay. If that's so that's the case, then there's no excuse for the EA team.

Other notable outliers are Chiefs Wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who holds the highest speed score in all of Madden at 99. Hill is certainly fast, and perhaps there's a split here but his highest career speed of 22.8 mph ranks only fourth in the league from 2017.3 In addition, his current weekly average speed of 22.8 mph although very impressive, isn't even close to those top 50.
