NBA 2K20 is the worst series release since NBA 2K8. There was hardly any innovation regarding gameplay. It was as if the designers had taken NBA 2K19 and painted it. Then they released the product under the name NBA 2K20. The only thing that was changed in the game was the quantity of advertisements that were placed on MyCareer and the Park. I do believe that NBA 2K could be high-quality games; the problems that must be rectified are fairly minor. Each of the suggestions can improve the game as an entire. 2K is a solid base however, it's still in need of some work.

Classic teams have been part of 2K since the year 2011. There have been some problems with classic teams throughout the years, however there's a big problem with licensing of player likenesses. Once a player retires, NBA 2K needs to pay the player a set amount every year to utilize their image for the game. Few players refuse to allow their likeness to be used for the purpose of playing. 2K has never reached satisfactory financial terms with any of the players. This means that classic teams generally lack the essential elements to make them special.

The Seven Seconds and Fewer Suns are perfect examples of incompatibility. Joe Johnson is not on the team. Johnson averaged 17.1 points per game with the Suns and was an important scoring option for Phoenix. Johnson's absence makes it hard to decide on the Suns in online games that are competitive. The Phoenix Suns in 1993 made the NBA Finals behind Charles Barkley's efforts. That team was excellent and included Charles Barkley in the prime of his career. Barkley's price for a player isn't enough to cover 2K's cost, and the 1993 Suns have been dropped from the game.

2K Sports need to come to financial terms with retired players and incorporate their names to the game. This will grant 2K Sports the ability to create new units and complement the existing teams. The list of excluded players is extensive, however, there are some notable names who top the list: Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Rasheed Wallace, Metta World Peace and Lamar Odom.
