While we don't have an exact release date from EA, it is possible to check the date that the initial roster update was released last week. After teasing a host of names on The Checkdown, not unlike how they've done it this time in the past, the complete Madden 22 Ratings and Roster Update was released on 7pm ET/ 6pm CT.

The announcement last week on Twitter that was live seems to have received delay because the EA Madden 22 Ratings Database hadn't been updated. This issue could be resolved by this week. We will continue to keep our eyes open for updates either this evening or in the morning.

Madden 22 will be available for free to play on this weekend

After a trial with early access in August, EA is giving fans another chance to try Madden 22. This one isn't just for EA Play subscribers, though. From Thursday, Sept. 9 to Sunday, Sept. 12, Madden NFL 22 will celebrate the NFL start with a global trial of free-to-play that allows newcomers and fans of Madden NFL to test out the new features across all platforms. S, the PlayStation 4 and 5, Steam, and Google Stadia.

Campus Legend is a limited-time feature that players who are new might be interested in trying. It takes its name form the NCAA Football single player career model of the past. This iteration will feature college all-star teams consisting of former NFL players in order to unlock Madden Ultimate Team members. EA claims that Campus Legend has been added to the arcade-quickplay Superstar KO modes, resulting in a 600% increase of player engagement. This means that between August 2020 and 2021, Madden 21 had seven times as many players or instances of Superstar KO use.

EA has also conducted informal surveying of Madden players via data collection. The result is that they now know for instance that the Titans purchase of Julio Jones (and maybe the NFL's relaxed number rules) have resulted in Madden players having more than doubled their usage of the Tennessee franchise. It's possible that the Titans have more fans than last year. The Titans to the second most-used team after the Lamar Jackson-led Baltimore Ravens. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears have also more than doubled the amount of time they spend on their teams (the Jaguars have almost tripled it) by drafting Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields as well as Justin Fields.

There will be a few other important events scheduled this weekend, which are linked to the NFL kickoff weekend. First is the Madden e-sports league, Madden Championship Series starts off at 7 p.m. ET tonight. This Thursday at 5:30 p.m. ET, the Madden Twitch page and NFL YouTube will feature a showdown between two fantastic entertainers, NFL legend (and YouTube star) Marshawn Lynch and rapper/actor/comedian Lil Dicky, called "The Kickoff." Lastly, EA will also be discounting the Madden NFL 22 MVP Edition by 25%.
