Player Likenesses Classic teams have been a part of 2K since. There have been a few issues with classic teams over the years, however there's a huge issue regarding licensing for player likenesses. Once a player retires, NBA 2K needs to pay an amount every year to utilize their likeness in the game.
Some players are not willing to allow their image to be utilized for the purpose of playing. 2K has never reached satisfactory financial terms with any of the players. This means that classic teams often lack the necessary pieces that make them unique.
The Seven Seconds or Fewer Suns are prime examples of incompleteness. Joe Johnson is not part of that team.
Johnson was a key scoring option for Phoenix and averaged 17.1 points per game for the Suns. The absence of Johnson is a reason not to select the Suns, especially when playing online games that are competitive.
The Phoenix Suns in 1993 made the NBA Finals behind Charles Barkley's efforts. The team was superb and included Charles Barkley in the prime of his career. The '93 Suns aren't on the field at all because 2K has no desire to compete with Barkley's offer.
